Accelerated TMS Therapy Brainsway Swift Protocol

FDA-Cleared & Evidence-Based

BrainsWay’s SWIFT protocol is FDA-cleared for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and can also be applied off-label for conditions.

Accelerated TMS offers the same proven results as standard TMS treatment, delivered in a fraction of the time:

  • Response rate: 87.8% (accelerated) vs. 87.5% (standard)
  • Remission rate: 78% (accelerated) vs. 87.5% (standard)
  • Results in days, not weeks

How does it work?

  • Deep TMS uses a magnetic coil helmet (H-coil) placed on the head to send magnetic pulses deep into the brain, targeting networks involved in mood regulation (especially the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, DLPFC).

  • The pulses induce electric currents that modulate neural activity and enhance neuroplasticity, which over repeated sessions can improve depressive symptoms.

Traditional vs Accelerated TMS

Instead of a typical regimen of once-daily sessions over 4–6 weeks for Traditional TMS, Accelerated TMS has:

Acute Phase

  • 5 sessions/day

  • 6 consecutive treatment days

  • Each session ~10 minutes

  • This delivers a high “dose” of stimulation quickly.

Continuation Phase

  • After the intensive acute phase, patients typically come in for 2 sessions/day once per week for 4 weeks (total 38 sessions combined).

iChange One-Day Accelerated TMS

Our most time-efficient intensive TMS option.

The iChange One-Day Accelerated TMS program delivers a complete series of closely spaced intermittent theta-burst stimulation treatments during a single treatment day.

Treatment Day

20 iTBS treatment sessions

Approximately 3 minutes of stimulation per session, with scheduled recovery intervals between treatments.

Plan for approximately 10 hours at the center.

Your Program Includes

  • Physician psychiatric evaluation
  • TMS candidacy assessment
  • Motor-threshold determination
  • Treatment localization and mapping
  • 20 iTBS sessions
  • Continuous clinical supervision throughout the treatment day
  • Vital-sign monitoring as clinically appropriate
  • Standardized depression assessments
  • Post-treatment outcome monitoring
  • Follow-up assessment

Neuroplasticity Enhancement

For appropriate patients, the physician may consider pharmacologic strategies intended to support neuroplasticity during accelerated TMS.

These medications are prescribed only after individualized medical evaluation and when clinically appropriate.

One-Day Program: $6,000

One-day accelerated TMS is an intensive treatment approach using an FDA-cleared TMS device in a treatment schedule that differs from standard FDA-cleared TMS courses. Certain aspects of the protocol, including accelerated scheduling and pharmacologic augmentation when used, may be off-label or investigational. Treatment is offered only after physician evaluation and determination of medical appropriateness. Individual outcomes vary.
